The first science fiction week in China was held in Shenzhen

Recently, Shenzhen Science Fiction Week, the first science fiction week in China, was held at the Metaverse Innovation Lab in Shekou, Shenzhen. Themed "Shenzhen in a Century", the first Shenzhen Science Fiction Week is a large-scale science fiction popularization event jointly initiated by the Nanshan District Association for Science and Technology and the SCIENCE & FANTASY GROWTH FOUNDATION under the guidance of the Shenzhen Association for Science and Technology. Sun Nan, member of the Party Leadership Group of the Shenzhen Association for Science and Technology, attended the award ceremony for the 2021 "Morningstar Cup" China Original Science Fiction Literature Competition and China Original Science Fiction Art Competition held at the main venue of the Science Fiction Week and delivered a speech.

Sun Nan, a member of the Party Leadership Group of the Shenzhen Association for Science and Technology, stated in his speech that hosting the "Morningstar Cup" China Original Science Fiction Competition would help promote cultural confidence and foster the prosperity of science fiction popular science creation. The competition could fully leverage Shenzhen's advantages, gather science fiction creation forces from Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, as well as science fiction enthusiasts from both domestic and overseas, expand the scope of creation, disseminate science fiction culture to a wider audience, tell Chinese people's own science fiction stories, and promote international cultural exchanges.

Shenzhen Science Fiction Week features one main venue and four sub-venues. The main venue focuses on "Science Fiction Digital+", hosting the Metaverse Innovation Lab and related exhibitions and experiential activities. The four sub-venues are respectively themed around "Science Fiction Aerospace+", "Science Fiction Art+", "Science Fiction Time+", and "Science Fiction Scroll+", presenting citizens with over ten diverse science fiction activities such as art exhibitions, installation exhibitions, documentary exhibitions, forums, dialogues, evening parties, dramas, movie screenings, visits to science popularization bases, and light and shadow shows.

The Shenzhen Science Fiction Week aims to cultivate a local science fiction and innovation atmosphere in Shenzhen, enhance the popularity of science fiction culture, promote the upgrading of the science fiction industry, achieve the breakthrough and integration of science fiction, and showcase elements such as the metaverse, science popularization, science fiction and innovation, science fiction and literature, science fiction and art in a multi-level, multi-dimensional, and multi-form manner. This aims to enhance the public's understanding of science fiction and stimulate innovative imagination and creativity. As the initiator of this Science Fiction Week, the SCIENCE & FANTASY GROWTH FOUNDATION will collaborate with technology enterprises in our city to establish a science fiction innovation center and jointly launch a science fiction co-creation plan.
