"Science Fiction Imagination Classroom" Enters Shenzhen VPA International School

On June 11th, the "Science Fiction Imagination Classroom" hosted by the SCIENCE & FANTASY GROWTH FOUNDATION (hereinafter referred to as "Science Fiction Fund") was successfully held at Victoria Park Academy (VPA) in Nanshan, Shenzhen. Ma Guobin, the chairman of the Science Fiction Fund, delivered a wonderful lecture on "Science Fiction and Imagination Development" to the students of VPA. Over 70 people, including Dr. Li Kangdi, the Chinese vice principal of VPA, Ms. Liu Yi, the student development director, several foreign teachers, and primary and secondary school students, participated in this event.

During the event, Mr. Ma Guobin, with the theme of "Science Fiction and Imagination Development", introduced the definition of science fiction and the brief history of its development in China and the West to the students step by step. He focused on analyzing the inspiration of science fiction for thinking, its significance for education, and its guiding influence on technology, delivering a wonderful speech. He encouraged the students to read more science fiction works to cultivate their imagination and creativity.

During the question-asking session, students raised their hands one after another, focusing on science fiction and future technological trends. The questions they raised were serious and profound, demonstrating international perspectives. The scene was lively and enthusiastic.

Adi Korman, a science teacher born in New York, said during the exchange session that New York has been the setting for many science fiction movies, but Shenzhen, with its urban architecture and the sight of astronauts on the subway, is the most sci-fi-like city he has ever seen.

David Wood, an English teacher from Washington State, expressed during the exchange that he has been a science fiction fan since childhood. He has lived and worked in Shenzhen for ten years, and he has deep feelings about it. Ten years ago, there were very few science fiction movies made in China, but now there are works like "The Wandering Earth" and "The Three-Body Problem". In the past, it was rare to see local science fiction activities in Shenzhen, but now there are institutions like the Science Fiction Foundation, which will inspire more and more young people with science fiction.

After the meeting, Mr. Ma Guobin from the Science Fiction Foundation presented a collection of books, including the signed collector's edition of "The Three-Body Problem" by Liu Cixin, to the school library. Dr. Li Kangdi, the Chinese Vice Principal of VPA, stated that science fiction has indeed sparked students' imagination and creativity, and in the future, more students will be encouraged to participate in science fiction activities.
